A business must be flexible. It must have the ability to cope with changes, changes of any form that can strike without notice.

The country is now under a state of emergency because of COVID-19. The government implemented strict guidelines and proper measures on how to contain the virus. The private and the public sector are working together to disseminate truthful information to reduce panic and anxiety.

All establishments are closed; the corporate world and the whole economy are paralyzed. Adaptability and flexibility are vital in times like this. Some companies implemented the work-from-home set-up and some did not because of the equipment/resource scarcity.

Life must go on, businesses must continue. Even if there is a predicament present, you must learn how you can cope with it and how to make adjustments.

WORK-FROM-HOME SET-UP

Defined by MBASKOOL; “Work From Home is a concept where the employee can do his or her job from home. It gives a flexible working hour to the employee as well as the job for the employer is done with ease. Work from home is helpful to delivering work-life balance to the employee, and also parallelly helps the company to get the work done. Nowadays, most employers are offering this option to their employees.”

In times of struggles like this, compassion and empathy are needed. If you are an employer, you need to provide your people with functional alternatives because their safety is your top priority.

Clarity Blog offered five tips on how to make your work-from-home productive and successful.

  1. Set a routine – think like you are at your own desk at your office, think of it as an extension of your workspace-your typical work routine. Set schedules and tasks. Give yourself a deadline for efficiency purposes and don’t forget to take breaks.
  1. Separate work from home – probably the most difficult thing to accomplish-separating your work life from your home life.  You can solve this by listing specific times to work (work hours) and time for breaks (breathers or rests). You can achieve it with proper discipline. “Just because you work from home does not mean that work is your entire life.”
  1. Get out of the house – if you feel cornered and antsy get-up and change your work location. Don’t let that feeling kill your productivity. Find a new corner with a pleasing set-up, and you are ready again to be efficient.
  1. Stay connected – talk with your team, communication is the key to everything.
  1. Recognize distractions – distractions are everywhere when you work at home. A comfy couch in front of a television, a noise from your neighborhood, and so much more. You need to recognize these distractions and try to deal with them. If you needed a reboot, take one.

Flexibility and adaptability are essential skills you need to master if you want to compete in this type of world. A change can happen in a blink of an eye, and the only way to defeat it is through making adjustments.
